The Social Research Centre specializes in providing survey research services.  Areas of core expertise include:

    Established in late 2000, the Social Research Centre has extensive experience and capacity in telephone, on-line, mail, and mixed mode data collection methodologies.  We are also accomplished qualitative researchers, particularly in the use of focus groups and cognitive interviewing techniques for formative research and to inform questionnaire design.

    We believe that by specialising purely in government, social and health research we are well placed, not only to better understand the demands of such research but also to strive to continuously improve the methods used.

    The Social Research Centre carries out research across all areas of health and social policy including, population health monitoring, community well-being, employment, families and young people, education and training and poverty and social exclusion.  Subject matter areas we have expertise in include, but are not limited to, the following:

    The Social Research Centre operates a 110-station Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) facility from our North Melbourne offices.  We employ over 30 permanent staff comprising 20 research / consulting staff, 4 data analysts / programmers and a permanent data collection operations, IT and management infrastructure.

    Our operations infrastructure comprises a Quality Systems Manager, a Call Centre Manager, a Recruitment and Training Manager, several project coordinators and supervisors and approximately 180 interviewers.  Given the sole focus of our business is social and health research, our interviewing team has vast experience in working to the exacting standards required for high-level research of this nature.

    The Social Research Centre has a deliberate policy of building our interviewing team around a core of highly experienced career interviewers.  This approach has enabled us to develop a team of interviewers with specialist social and health research skills.  Our interviewers have proven ability to achieve high response rates, collect high quality survey data and work in sensitive subject matter areas.
    Our customised CATI software (Quantime) can manage extremely complex questionnaires and rigorous sample management tasks.  Our back-up and disaster recovery systems are state of the art.

    The Social Research Centre has quality accreditation according to the ISO 20252 – Market, Opinion and Social Research Standard.
