Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2006.  A survey of 1,000 persons in receipt of Carer Allowance to document the physical, emotional, social and financial impact on families on caring for a relative with a disability.

The Family Pathways Survey

The Family Pathways Survey program is part of a wider research program being undertaken by the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) to support the evaluation the reforms to the family law system in July 2006.

The Social Research Centre has been contracted to provide survey research services to AIFS.  After a successful pilot test, data collection for the first phase of the project, Wave 1 of a longitudinal survey of 10,000 separated parents, has been completed and the second phase is due to commence in mid-2009.  An additional cross-sectional study of 2,000 parents who separated before July 2006 is currently underway.

National Survey of Parents Childcare Choices

Early childhood education is a key priority for the Australian Government in 2009.  From mid-April, 7,000 interviews will be conducted with parents across Australia.  The surveys focus on how parents make decisions about child care, how they choose a child care provider and what types of child care options are used by parents once a child reaches school age. This study will provide evidence to support the ongoing development of the early childhood reform agenda.
