Student Experience Survey

The Student Experience Survey (SES) is the largest survey of Australian higher education students and is run on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.

The Social Research Centre collaborates with Australian higher education students to carry out the collection of SES data. The aim of the SES is to give students the opportunity to talk about their experience of the institution they are enrolled in and the results of the research are used to help higher education providers and the government gain insight into students’ experiences, specifically to:

  • Monitor and improve teaching and learning in Australia.
  • Assist with changes and improvements that will benefit students and assist the institutions’ strategic planning.

Taking part in the SES also assists the higher education sector and will assist future students to make choices about their study options so your participation is an important part of improving the quality of tertiary education in Australia.

The Social Research Centre currently carries out the SES for Australian higher education institutions. Information collected is treated in accordance with the Australian Market and Social Research Society’s Privacy Principles and the Higher Education Support Act.

A random selection of undergraduate students studying at higher education institutions will be invited to take part in the SES. The Social Research Centre invites students to participate by email.
