The Harm to Others Survey

Turning Point Drug and Alcohol, 2008. A Victoria-wide survey which collects data on alcohol-related harm to others from 2,500 persons aged 18 and over.

 

The National Drugs Campaign Evaluation Surveys

Department of Health and Ageing, 2004 onwards.  A national series of pre and post campaign evaluation telephone surveys of over 1,800 parents of 8-17 year olds and 1,800 13-24 year olds regarding attitudes to and awareness of illicit drugs.

 

The National Tobacco Surveys

Department of Health and Ageing, 2002 onwards.  15,000 screening interviews to establish the prevalence of smoking in Australia, and a further 2,900 interviews to evaluate the National Tobacco Campaign.

 

The Smoking and Health Survey

Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer, 2004 onwards.  The survey collects data relating to smoking and health behaviours of Victorian adults, as well as public opinions surrounding various health issues.  Since 1998, the survey has been conducted via 16-minute telephone interviews of a representative sample of Victorians.  Sample size 3,000 interviews.

 

Victorian Youth Alcohol and Drugs Survey

Premier’s Drug Prevention Council and the Victorian Department of Human Services, 2004.  A survey amongst 6,000 16-24 year olds to provide a ‘snap shot’ of drug usage patterns and information on attitudes about various drug related issues and behaviours.

 

The VicHealth Community Monitor

A total of 1,500 surveys across Victoria about community attitudes to alcohol are almost completed.  This study is the first survey which is part of the VicHealth Community Monitor.  There is another study scheduled for later this year on diet and nutrition.  The Monitor is designed to collect community attitudes towards issues that the Victorian Community is currently facing, with results feeding into policy and decision making in each of these areas.
