Community Attitudes to Violence Against Women Survey
In September 2008 the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced that a consortium comprising the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth), the Australian Institute of Criminology and the Social Research Centre would be funded to undertake a national study of community attitudes to violence against women. The study, which will be based on a 2006 Victorian study undertaken by the same consortium, is seen as critical in supporting the advancement of the national violence against women agenda.
The study will utilise a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The core quantitative components comprise 10,000 general community telephone interviews, 2,500 telephone interviews amongst members of selected culturally and linguistically diverse communities and 400 face-to-face interviews with Indigenous Australians across 12 locations.
The International Crime Victimisation Survey
Australian Institute of Criminology / United Nations Organisation. 6,000 general community surveys and 1,000 interviews with persons of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds on crime victimization issues. Australian component of a large-scale international survey.
