Over 2000 Queensland households have been invited to participate in the diary stage of the Statewide Recreational Fishing Survey 2019-20, currently being conducted by the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
You can log into your Fishing Portal to log your recent recreational fishing activity between 29 April 2019 to 28 April 2020. Fishers can record their recreational fishing activity shortly after they go fishing, either by logging the activity online via the Fishing Portal, replying to an SMS, or receiving a phone call from our interviewers. You may have received a text message from 0488826358 or a phone call from 0735572200 or 0735572201. To access your online Fishing Portal, click here:
The Department will use results from the Diary Stage to generate estimates of recreational fishing participation rates, where and how Queenslanders fish and what they catch and release. This survey will also collect expenditure information which can be used to help understand the economics of recreational fishing. The information you provide will help the department maintain fish populations and ensure Queensland’s fisheries are well managed into the future.
The survey has been refined over the years and it is easy to participate in. People who participated in previous surveys found it interesting and fulfilling to contribute to important research that helps to sustainably manage Queensland’s fisheries.
You may have received a text message from 0488 826 358 or a phone call from 07 3557 2200 or 07 3557 2201 regarding completing the diary. If you have further queries about the Diary stage or would like to receive extra diary materials, please contact the Social Research Centre on:
