Child Abuse Royal Commission Evaluation Framework
Client: Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse put forward wide-ranging recommendations for improving the safety of children in institutions and addressing historical child sexual abuse. To enable the implementation of all 409 recommendations to be reviewed, the SRC Evaluation Team worked with the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department to create a comprehensive evaluation framework for the implementation of the recommendations by the Australian and state and territory governments.
Development of the Evaluation Framework required multiple workshops and consultations with representatives from Australian Government departments and agencies, as well as state and territory government stakeholders. The Evaluation Team also met with legal and academic experts to better understand the context in which the Framework would sit. Following these consultations, the team produced a comprehensive yet pragmatic Framework that promotes consistency in how implementation of the Royal Commission recommendations is reviewed, while recognising the unique contexts of jurisdictions and individual departments and agencies.
