Important Victorian Community Survey

Client: Cancer Council Victoria

The Social Research Centre has been contracted to conduct an important community survey for the Cancer Council Victoria.

Please click on the headings below to reveal further information.

This is an important community survey into attitudes and behaviours that may impact on health. The information from this survey will help Cancer Council Victoria develop cancer prevention programs to help reduce the number of deaths and disease caused by cancer. The Social Research Centre has been commissioned to carry out this study on behalf of Cancer Council Victoria.

We want to be sure that the findings reflect the views of all Victorians, so it is important that we speak to a broad range of people about their thoughts and experiences. Please be assured that this invitation has no connection to any previous contact you may have had with Cancer Council Victoria.

In order to ensure that the sample represents all sectors of the Victorian population, telephone numbers have been generated at random from the Integrated Public Number Database, a list of all mobile numbers in Australia, with the authorisation of the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

Please be assured that this invitation has no connection to any previous contact you may have had with Cancer Council Victoria.

The survey will take approximately 14 minutes to complete, depending on your answers. The survey is easy to answer as the questions are mainly about the respondent’s own health-related beliefs and experiences.

The survey is entirely voluntary, however your participation is important. We want to be sure that the findings reflect the views of all Victorians, so it is important that we speak to a broad range of people about their thoughts and experiences.

An interviewer from the Social Research Centre may call in the next week or so. As long as you are over 18 years old, we would like to speak with you as the phone owner.

This research is carried out in compliance with the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles, and the information you have provided will only be used for research purposes. No other agency or department will have access to your details. Our Privacy Policy is available via our website.

If you have any questions about your participation in the survey or would like to make a time for an interviewer to call you, please call the Social Research Centre on 1800 023 040 (a free call).

Cancer Council Victoria’s Human Research Ethics Committee has approved this project so that it meets ethical standards and ensures the confidentiality of participants’ information is protected.
