The Victorian Student Satisfaction Survey collects information from all Victorian students who completed or left early from vocational training in 2018. Results from the survey are used to improve the quality of the Training and TAFE system in Victoria, which is a key element of Skills First.

This is your chance to have your say about the training you completed or left early from in 2018. Results from the survey will be used to evaluate, monitor and improve the quality of vocational training – better quality vocational training will help Victorian students improve their skills and obtain better outcomes after training.

Completing the Victorian Student Satisfaction Survey is voluntary, but the more students who respond to the survey, the more the results will represent all students who completed vocational training in 2018. This means the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) can make decisions that benefit as many students as possible in the training and TAFE system.

The survey will ask a range of questions, including:

  • How and why you chose the training?
  • Satisfaction with the training.
  • Your employment situation after the training.
  • What further training, if any, you are currently enrolled in?
  • If you didn’t complete the training, why was that the case?

The training organisation sent your contact details to the DET to receive payment for the training they provide – this information was then provided to the Social Research Centre (SRC) to conduct this survey. Contact details provided to the SRC will only be used to administer the survey.

The survey complies with the requirements of the Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012. Further information on the Victorian Privacy Principles and the SRC’s privacy policy is available at www.srcentre.com.au/research-participants#privacy.

When the survey closes, the SRC will link your survey responses with information about your course and training organisation. Your details will be dealt with in accordance with the Public Records Act 1973 and the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic). Further information on the Victorian Information Policy Principles is available at: www.cpdp.vic.gov.au/menu-privacy/privacy-what-is

In rare instances we may contact you or others if, through your responses, we think there is a serious threat to health and safety. If during the course of completing the survey you require assistance, help is available through these services:

That’s ok – you may have undertaken similar training to the training shown on the front of the letter you received, in 2018. If so, you can complete the survey and be entered into the prize draws. If you did not undertake similar training, never enrolled in any vocational training in 2018 or would like to make a complaint about your TAFE or your training organisation, please call the TAFE and Training Help Line on 131 823 or email tafe.courseline@edumail.vic.gov.au

That’s OK – sometimes training organisations change names, use different names for parts of their business, or they organise the training to be conducted by another training organisation. If you recognise the training shown on the front of the letter you received, you can complete the survey and be entered into the prize draws.

Yes. Your response to the survey is important, even if the training was only of a short duration (e.g. a one-day course provided by your workplace). All responses to the survey will be used to improve vocational training in Victoria and be entered into the prize draws.
